When getting divorced in California, do stock options value as of the settlement date or separation date?

I am interested to understand what happens when the stock appreciation between the separation date and the settlement date?

If it’s written in your divorce agreement that you are entitled to options then you own them as of the divorce date. The value all depends on whether you excerise the option, etc. Do you own a call or put??? Need more info to answer…
