Stock information: how to determine the level of risk a fund?
To determine if the funds you wish to purchase is your risk profile, you obviously know the type of tool in which you invest.
You should know that a fund that invests solely in shares this principle in a higher risk than funds that bet on bonds. The geographical concentration of funds is another element that indicates the level of risk. Funds that invest in emerging countries like China, Brazil and Russia are subject to price fluctuations much larger than those that rely on EU funds. Beware: the nature of the underlying assets of a fund indicates the main source of risk, but you might as well take risks by investing in products that you know little or whose manager is unknown to you.

Investors can find a clear and precise indication of risk in the data sheet or the fund’s prospectus. This document provides information on the position of Funds on the risk scale from 0 (very defensive) to 6 (very active). For new funds that have not yet history, the risk level is determined by comparison with a more or less similar funds or with the benchmark. For others, the risk scale is recalculated periodically based on the fund’s volatility over the past five years. More fluctuations, the greater the position on the risk scale is too. For example, for a fund with no capital guarantee of zero risk class, the price changes were included in the past between 0 and 2.5%. For funds of Class 6, the fluctuations are above 30%.
The risk profile
Each class of risk is also associated with risk profiles; stock market investors know the risk so if a particular fund fits their profile. In the case of open-end funds, risk class 0 is very defensive, Class 3 and Class 6 dynamic dynamic. Investors always prefer to learn beyond the fund’s risk profile. In the prospectus, they will see how the fund is exposed to several risks: market risk (if the entire stock market down considerably, this would affect the value of the portfolio), foreign exchange risk (unfavorable exchange rates) , inflation risk (depending on changes in the rate of inflation) and concentration risk (related to the concentration of investment on certain assets or markets).
