Fifth award for the Audi A1
The charismatic Audi A1 has been a great success for Audi; it has won over buyers from all demographics and sectors. The premium supermini ticks so many boxes, whether it is looks, fuel efficiency, technology or comfort the A1 delivers. It is no surprise it has already won five awards this year, its first year of being on sale.
The fifth title of the year for the A1 was the Best Small Car accolade presented by the 2011 Fleet World Honours. Held at the Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall, the Fleet World Honours are judged by the Fleet World editorial team.
Fleet World Editor, Steve Moody, said: “Audi’s new A1 is just so desirable, combining chunky good looks with the firm’s meticulous attention to detail and quality. It might not be the cheapest supermini, but strong performance on the used market will balance the books. As it is still a new model there are not many Audi A1s listed in used Audi stock, therefore buyers are almost restricted to new models only. Prices for new models start from £13,420 on the road for the 1.2 TFSI 86PS SE model, and the top of the range 1.4 TFSI 185PS model costing £20,710.
Audi said that the A1 would go head to head for the MINI and trendy Superminis like the Fiat 500 and the Citroens DS3. With its initial popularity and cupboard of wards I would say it is definitely giving its competitors a really good run for their money.
